The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has approved a new tech park on Ferozepur Road, near the Arfa Karim Tower, on nearly 119 kanals of land previously used for a fruit and vegetable market. The decision follows internal market research identifying the site as suitable for IT and allied businesses.
Under the plan, called Tech Park City, roughly 50 kanals have been earmarked for commercial use, 1.12 kanals for a public building, over 6 kanals for parks, and about 60 kanals for parking and roads.
Plots will be offered in three sizes 8, 15 and 1 kanal with permitted construction of ground-plus-five (72 feet) and ground-plus-six (90 feet) buildings.
LDA Chief Town Planner Asaduz Zaman said the authority aims to develop a major IT hub by involving the private sector in purchasing commercial plots of varying sizes, supported by modern facilities including a dedicated parking plaza.
The first ballot for open auction of plots is scheduled for October 14, with the remaining plots to be auctioned in 2027 and 2028. The LDA projects revenue of Rs13.566 billion from these auctions, along with an additional Rs45 million expected from leasing a petrol pump site and a food outlet.
LDA Director (Auction) Ali Bin Sohail said the project is expected to boost business activity in the IT sector.
The land has a mixed history: the LDA acquired it in 1978, ran a produce market there until 2011, and later saw a planned hospital project on the site collapse after the Specialised Healthcare Department failed to make payment despite multiple extensions.
