The City Traffic Police (CTP) Lahore has launched a strict enforcement campaign against underage and unlicensed drivers, along with unsafe motorcycle practices such as triple riding, in an effort to improve road safety across the provincial capital.
Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi said the operation will be implemented with zero tolerance, particularly during holidays when traffic violations typically increase.
Under the campaign, drivers under the age of 18 found operating vehicles or motorcycles will face traffic challans, vehicle impoundment, and their parents will be required to provide written assurances to prevent repeat violations.
The CTO said motorists driving without valid licences will face fines of Rs. 5,000 for cars and Rs. 2,000 for motorcycles. Learner permit holders will also be prohibited from driving without proper supervision.
Traffic police will simultaneously target triple riding on motorcycles, which officials described as a significant road safety hazard. To facilitate compliance, special checkpoints will be established near licensing centres to help unlicensed riders obtain driving licences.
Separately, the CTO reviewed ongoing operations against heavy traffic violations at Lahore’s entry and exit points, including inspections at the Gajjumata checkpoint. Authorities are checking commercial vehicles for valid licences, fitness certificates, and proper lighting systems.
Officials said commercial vehicles lacking legal documentation or operating with defective lights, missing rear lights, or improper use of high-beam headlights will not be allowed to enter the city.
The latest campaign forms part of Lahore Traffic Police’s broader efforts to strengthen enforcement, reduce accidents, and encourage responsible driving practices.
