The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has officially revised the price of its AMI single-phase smart meters to Rs. 14,786 (excluding GST), marking a key step in its digital metering initiative. The updated rate, once taxes and additional charges are applied, is expected to bring the total installation cost close to Rs. 20,000 per consumer, according to company sources.
LESCO’s Material Management Department issued a formal notification to the Director of Customer Services, confirming the approved rates and directing relevant departments to follow the new pricing structure. Cable and installation charges will continue to be collected as per the Regional Store Manager’s official price list, the notice added.
An official from LESCO noted,
“The price adjustment ensures transparency and reflects the current procurement costs for smart metering equipment.”
The company has outsourced the procurement of these meters to external suppliers to streamline the process and enhance supply efficiency.
The new smart meters are part of LESCO’s broader Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) program, aimed at improving billing accuracy, reducing line losses, and ensuring real-time data monitoring.
