A major power breakdown affected several areas of Karachi after more than 14 K-Electric grid stations went offline due to a fault in the company’s Extra High Tension (EHT) network.
The outage disrupted electricity supply in areas including Manghopir, Nazimabad, Surjani Town, North Karachi, North Nazimabad, Defence, Orangi, Keamari, Lyari, New Karachi, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, PIDC and Mauripur. Several localities remained without power for around 90 minutes before electricity supply began to return.
A K-Electric spokesperson said the disruption was caused by a brief fault in the EHT network, which temporarily affected power transmission. The company said supply had been restored in some areas while teams continued working to normalize electricity in the remaining affected localities. K-Electric added that power supply remained normal across most parts of Karachi.
