Punjabs First Dust Free Road To Be Completed By June 2026

A major stretch of Karachi’s Lyari Expressway, from Garden Interchange to Mauripur, has been temporarily closed for all traffic due to ongoing restoration and development work being carried out by the Frontier Works Organization (FWO). The closure aims to facilitate essential infrastructure upgrades and improve road safety and traffic flow along the expressway.

According to Motorway Police, traffic coming from Sohrab Goth, Hassan Square, and Mauripur will now be diverted into the city through the Garden Interchange. Authorities have advised commuters to plan ahead, use alternate routes, and allow additional travel time to avoid delays during peak hours.

Officials stated that the ongoing work is part of a wider development initiative to upgrade Karachi’s expressway network, including improvements in drainage and road infrastructure. Though no specific completion date has been provided, the section will remain closed “for all types of traffic” until repairs are finalized.

An FWO representative remarked,

“This temporary inconvenience will lead to long-term ease for commuters as the Expressway’s capacity and safety standards are being enhanced.”

Authorities have urged citizens to stay updated through Motorway Police’s official social media channels for real-time traffic advisories and diversion updates.
