Metro Bus, Green Bus Services Suspended in Islamabad and Rawalpindi

Published by

Public transport services in the twin cities were disrupted on Monday as Metro Bus operations in Islamabad and Rawalpindi were suspended, while Rawalpindi’s Green Bus service was also halted. The suspension followed directives from the district administration amid security concerns.

According to sources within the Metro Bus administration, the decision was taken as a precautionary measure due to potential protest activity linked to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Officials clarified that while the situation in Rawalpindi remains under control, authorities opted to suspend services temporarily to avoid any untoward incidents.

The sudden suspension caused inconvenience for daily commuters who rely heavily on public transport for work and education. Passengers were advised to arrange alternative travel options as authorities continued to monitor the situation closely.

Public transport services in the twin cities have previously been suspended during major political activity or security alerts. While the Metro Bus and Green Bus systems are considered key components of urban mobility, operations are often paused as a preventive step during periods of heightened risk.
