Microsoft Expands Security Copilot with AI Agents to Strengthen Cybersecurity

Microsoft is upgrading its Security Copilot platform with AI agents designed to assist cybersecurity teams in managing complex security challenges. Originally launched to introduce AI-powered chat for cybersecurity, the platform is now expanding with six AI agents developed by Microsoft and five from partner organizations. These additions aim to improve efficiency in handling security incidents and automating routine IT tasks.
Set to launch in preview next month, Microsoft’s AI agents will address key security concerns, including phishing detection, data loss prevention, vulnerability management, and alert prioritization. Vasu Jakkal, corporate vice president of Microsoft Security, highlighted that these AI agents will work independently on large-scale security operations while integrating with existing Microsoft Security tools.
Microsoft has partnered with companies like OneTrust, Aviatrix, BlueVoyant, Tanium, and Fletch to develop additional third-party AI agents. For instance, OneTrust’s agent will streamline breach analysis, while Aviatrix’s agent will help identify network failures, offering deeper insights for cybersecurity teams.
The demand for AI-driven security solutions continues to grow, with Microsoft Security Copilot playing a key role in bringing AI-based assistance to businesses. Earlier this year, Microsoft introduced a free AI chat for business users and a paid option for advanced AI agents.
Beyond AI agents, Microsoft is also enhancing phishing protection in Teams. Starting next month, Microsoft Defender for Office 365 will block malicious URLs and attachments, further safeguarding users from cyber threats.
More details on these advancements are expected at the Microsoft Secure event on April 9th.
