The National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) has launched a new mobile learner driving licence service, enabling citizens to obtain learner licences through mobile facilitation vans operating at designated locations.
According to NHMP officials, the initiative is designed to improve public access to licensing services and make the learner licence application process more convenient. The mobile units will visit various areas and provide on-the-spot facilities for applicants, reducing the need to travel to licensing centres.
The motorway police said the service is part of broader efforts to modernize public services and improve accessibility for citizens seeking driving licences.
In a separate development, the NHMP has also announced stricter fire safety regulations for vehicles operating on motorways and national highways.
Under the new regulations, all vehicles particularly passenger transport and cargo vehicles must carry a functional fire extinguisher. Authorities said the measure aims to reduce fire-related risks and improve emergency preparedness during accidents and vehicle breakdowns.
The motorway police warned that strict enforcement will begin after June 24, 2026. Vehicles found without a working fire extinguisher may face legal action, while cargo and public service vehicles lacking the required equipment will not be permitted to enter motorways and national highways.
To raise awareness about the new requirement, the NHMP has launched a nationwide fire safety campaign that will continue until June 24, encouraging motorists and transport operators to comply with the regulations before enforcement begins.
Officials said the combined initiatives are intended to enhance road safety, improve public service delivery, and ensure safer travel on Pakistan’s motorway network.
