The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched new digital facilities for vehicle buyers and sellers through an updated version of its Pak ID mobile application.
The upgrade, released as version 5.6.8, introduces digital vehicle cards for vehicles registered in Balochistan and a biometric verification system for vehicle transactions, developed in collaboration with the Government of Balochistan.
According to a statement issued by NADRA, the new features allow citizens to verify and transfer vehicle ownership from home, removing the need to visit registration offices in person. The authority said the update is aimed at making vehicle-related transactions faster, more convenient, and more secure for the public.
NADRA is the primary institution responsible for issuing identity documents to citizens of Pakistan, both within the country and abroad. The authority has been steadily expanding its digital services to cover sectors that require identity verification, with the latest update extending this reach to the automobile sector.
The vehicle verification feature follows the earlier rollout of self-service kiosks by NADRA, which offer a separate set of services related to the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP).
Through these kiosks, overseas Pakistanis can renew an existing NICOP or apply for a replacement in case the original card is lost or damaged. The kiosks also allow families to submit cancellation requests for the NICOP of a deceased relative.
These self-service kiosks are currently operational at selected NADRA centers, with the authority indicating plans to broaden both the kiosk network and the scope of digital services available through the Pak ID application.
