New Dota 2 Hero ‘Arjun’ Discovered in Experimental Server Update

Dota 2 fans might soon welcome a new challenger to the Ancients. Valve recently released an update for the game’s experimental server, and it has sparked immediate interest. Reportedly, dataminers have uncovered references to a new hero named Arjun.

Here is everything currently known about this potential addition to the roster.

The Leak: ID 159 Identified

Dataminers quickly dug into the files following the latest patch. While Valve has not officially confirmed any details, sources on GitHub indicate that Arjun is indeed present in the update code.

Research reveals the character is listed under the internal filename ‘npc_dota_hero_arjun’. Furthermore, the hero is assigned the unique ID 159. An X post also highlighted these findings. Currently, the files only reveal the hero’s existence. No specific abilities or stats are visible in the data yet.

Not the Only Secret in Dota 2

Interestingly, Arjun is not the sole unreleased character lurking in the test files. This discovery mirrors events from September 2025, when dataminers found files for another hero, Bard Frog.

Rumours suggested Bard Frog might arrive in 2024, but players have yet to see him in action. Now, Arjun joins him as another hidden entity on the experimental servers.

Speculation on Role & Abilities

Since the data lacks ability descriptions, the exact playstyle remains a mystery. However, that hasn’t stopped speculation. Arjun may be introduced as either a “Tank” or a “Carry” hero.

It has been a while since Valve introduced a dedicated “Tank” to Dota 2, and fans would likely appreciate the variety. But the name, Arjun, refers to a prominent figure, “the heroic archer”, from the Hindu epic Mahabharata. So there is a high chance that Arjun is a “Carry” hero and not a “Tank”.

In terms of kit, the source speculates Arjun might feature an “explosive skillset”. The hero could function similarly to Axe, focusing on initiation and dealing high burst damage.

For now, we must wait for Valve to make an official move. We will keep you updated as more details emerge.
