No Holiday for Federal Employees on December 26, 2025
The Federal Government has officially rejected rumours regarding a public holiday on Friday. It is now confirmed that Friday, December 26, 2025, will remain a regular working day for all federal employees.
This announcement comes directly from the Cabinet Secretariat, which issued a formal notification today to settle the matter once and for all.
The Cabinet Division released an official notification earlier today. The document, signed by Cabinet Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal, explicitly states that all Federal Government establishments must remain open.
Copies of this directive have been forwarded to key state functionaries. These include Federal Ministers, the Attorney General, the Chief Election Commissioner, and the Director Generals of the ISI and IB. Furthermore, the State Bank of Pakistan and the Registrars of the Supreme Court and High Courts have also received these orders.
Uncertainty gripped the capital earlier today. The local District Administration had announced a public holiday in Islamabad for December 26. This triggered confusion among government staff and the business community regarding the status of federal offices.
However, the Cabinet Division’s clarification overrides the district-level announcement for federal staff. Consequently, all federal ministries, divisions, and attached departments will operate as usual this Friday.
