After months of leaks and rumors, OnePlus has finally unveiled the 5th iteration of their flagship smartphone.
So what’s new in OnePlus 5? The team behind OnePlus 5 has focused a lot on design this time around. Earlier leaks suggested that it bears a lot of similarity to iPhone design. Although the similarities between the two devices cannot be denied, the situation seems a little less bad in real life. Due to the position of the main camera and the single home button on the front of the device, it does mimic the look of an iPhone. But its anodized metal body and sleek design (which OnePlus dubs as the horizon edge) helps distinguish itself from the Apple devices.
OnePlus 5, coming in a black and gray variant, claims to be lighter, thinner and sleeker than all other flagship smartphones. It’s only 7.25mm thick and weighs a very manageable 153 grams.
The camera department is also getting a major overhaul this time around. With a dual camera setup in the back and a massive 16 MP front camera, OnePlus 5 claims to be the best camera phone that you can own. Owing to an upgraded Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, it also features up to 40 percent faster autofocus and better noise processing.
A complete list of its specifications is:
It will cost $479 (about 50,000 PKR) for the 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage model and $540 (about 56,000 PKR) for 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage model.
Unlike previous devices by OnePlus, OnePlus 5 will come in a single variant which will be shipped around the world. Currently, the pre-order is limited to customers residing in North-America only. However, it is expected that the phone will soon be available in Pakistan through gray market channels in digital and offline retail stores.
