Overwatch 2 players may finally have clarity on Hero 45. According to multiple outlets, Vendetta, also known as La Lupa, is reportedly joining Season 20 as a Damage hero instead of the tank many expected. The information comes from early reports by Polygon and Esports.gg. However, Blizzard has not officially confirmed her role yet.
Polygon was the first to suggest that Vendetta is a DPS hero. It did not reveal its source. Shortly after, Esports.gg backed the claim. The outlet stated it received an email describing her as an “Italian Damage Hero” who steps into a spotlight built on a throne of violence.
As of today, November 18, 2025, no official Overwatch 2 channels have mentioned her role or abilities. Therefore, this information may have been released ahead of schedule. Even then, the consistency between the two reports makes a DPS debut highly likely.
Vendetta is a gladiator wielding a burning hardlight sword. Her cinematic reveals major parts of her backstory. It also shows several combat moves. She blocks bullets with her sword. She leaps high into the air. She spins her blade in a whirlwind. She also cleaves a large war machine in half with a blazing hardlight slash.
Additionally, her secret mask from Season 19’s Haunted Masquerade mode increased movement and attack speed when dealing melee or ability damage. Because of this, many players believe she could play like a mix of Genji, Doomfist, and Fallen Knight Reinhardt from Mirrorwatch.
Vendetta’s Hero Trial will run from November 26 to December 1. She will officially arrive with Overwatch 2 Season 20 afterwards.
Her story sets her up as a major antagonist. Vendetta is the daughter of Antonio Giordani, a former Talon executive killed by Blackwatch during the Retribution missions. She carries a deep grudge against both organisations. Overwatch 2 also recently expanded its in-game Story feature and wrapped up the Null Sector arc, creating a clear space for her arrival.
