Overwatch 2 Season 20 Coming Soon: New Hero & Skins Revealed

Blizzard Entertainment has officially unveiled details for Overwatch 2 Season 20. Launching on December 9, 2025, this massive update closes out the year with a focus on vengeance, winter festivities, and significant competitive quality-of-life improvements.

With Season 19 ending soon, players have until December 9 to complete their Battle Passes. Furthermore, fans can participate in “Competitive Drives” starting December 4 to earn unique Signatures and Competitive Points before the reset.

Here is everything coming to Overwatch 2 in Season 20.

Overwatch 2 New Hero: ‘Vendetta’ Enters the Fray

The star of Season 20 is Marzia Bartalotti, also known as “Vendetta” (or “La Lupa”). As the daughter of former Talon executive Antonio Giordani, she has sworn vengeance against both Talon and Overwatch.

Vendetta makes history as the game’s first true Melee Damage hero. Her kit focuses on a highly mobile and aggressive playstyle designed to sunder the competition. Blizzard describes her fighting style as regal and ruthless, utilising lunges, slices, and leaps to thrive in close-quarters combat.

Winter Wonderland & Avatar Returns to Overwatch 2

The holidays return to Overwatch from December 9 to January 7. This year’s “Winter Wonderland” features a three-path reward system. Players can earn “Winter Cookies” to unlock specific reward tracks for Jingle Tracer, Krampus Junkrat, and Santa Claus Torbjorn skins.

Additionally, the popular prop hunt mode, “Mischief & Magic”, returns with a twist:

  • Dec 9 to Dec 22: Classic winter-themed prop hunt.
  • Dec 23 to Jan 5: A new “Wonderland Twist” allows props to fight back. Kiriko gains powers based on her disguise, such as exploding snowmen or biting gingerbread.

Players can also earn Frozen Demon Junkrat and Frozen Mountaineer Cassidy through event challenges.

Moreover, the Avatar: The Last Airbender collaboration makes a comeback from December 16 to December 29. Fans can once again acquire skins like Katara Mei, Aang Zenyatta, and Toph Venture.

Major Competitive & System Updates

Season 20 introduces features that the community has long requested. Most notably, Blizzard is implementing a Rank Refund System. If you lose a match to a cheater who is later banned, you will now regain your lost rank progress.

Other competitive updates include:

  • Challenger Score: Progression now factors in win streaks and queue bonuses more heavily.
  • Top 500 Visibility: Top-ranked players will have integrated social visibility to highlight community champions.
  • Stadium Updates: The Stadium mode gets a new “China Control” map, adds Doomfist and Wuyang to the roster, and introduces a Top 500 tier. The reward for climbing this ladder is the League 6 Reaper Chase skin.

Finally, Blizzard has added a “Gifting System” via Battle.net, allowing players to gift Battle Passes and currency bundles to friends.

Mythic Skins & Battle Pass Rewards

No season is complete without cosmetics. Cassidy receives the Mythic Hero Skin this season. Titled “Divine Desperado”, it transforms him into a solar deity with customizable hairstyles and colourways (Purple Dusk and Ice Blue Dawn).

Orisa receives the Mythic Weapon Skin, the “Capsule Cannon”, which turns her weapon into a sparkling gacha machine with unique sound effects.

  • Battle Pass: Includes Yukizaru Genji, Celestial Venture, Colder: 76, and Frost Lich Reaper.
  • Ultimate Bundle: Grants High Society Vendetta and Reindeer Tracer.
