Overwatch just gave players a massive reason to log in. On February 10, the hero shooter executed a soft relaunch. Blizzard finally dropped the “2” from the title. Consequently, the game introduced five new heroes, a refreshed UI, and the Reign of Talon Season 1 story. The relaunch smashed player records on both Steam and Twitch. Therefore, developers are rolling out a “Player Appreciation Boost” to celebrate the momentum.
Double XP Weekends & Twitch Drops
Every weekend in March features Double Match XP. Specifically, the dates are March 6–8 (active right now), March 13–15, March 20–22, and March 27–29. Furthermore, this boost directly multiplies the baseline Battle Pass XP. Players usually earn between 700 and 1,000 XP per match. However, grouping up adds an extra 20% boost. Additionally, queuing for in-demand roles grants 100 to 500 extra XP. Ultimately, players can easily stack these bonuses to grab over 2,000 XP for a single win.
We’re beyond grateful for the love you’ve shown us this season, so now it’s time to return the favor! 😎🔥

Meanwhile, players only have until tomorrow, March 8, to claim their Twitch Drops. Fans must watch streamers for 13 hours to unlock up to 10 free Loot Boxes. Notably, two of these are Legendary.
Overwatch vs Talon: The Conquest Event War
Currently, Overwatch is battling through the fourth week of the five-week Conquest event. Players must align with either Overwatch or Talon to complete objectives. Consequently, the winning faction decides which Echo skin all players will receive. Talon took weeks one and three. However, Overwatch secured week two and currently leads week four. Therefore, the final week will likely begin with a dead tie. The event officially concludes on March 17.
Upcoming Nier Collab & Season 2
The midseason update drops on either March 10 or March 17. This patch brings essential hero balance adjustments and a new Mythic skin for Mei. Moreover, a major Nier: Automata collaboration launches next week on March 10. This crossover features Adam Lifeweaver, A2 Vendetta, 9S Wuyang, 2B Kiriko, and Commander White Mercy.
Finally, Reign of Talon Season 2 arrives on April 14. Fans can expect a new story arc, another playable hero, and an official Switch 2 port. Furthermore, post-match accolades will return to the game. Map updates include reworks to the Antarctic Peninsula and the addition of Ramattra to Stadium. Season 2 will also host the highly anticipated Overwatch 10-year anniversary event.
