Pakistan and Denmark are exploring stronger bilateral cooperation in trade, renewable energy, and IT, as Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan met Danish Ambassador Maja Derrous Mortensen in Islamabad. The meeting focused on industrial solar adoption, IT talent development, and strategies to boost exports and investment.
The two sides discussed Pakistan’s shift toward renewable energy, supported by a three year Danish partnership on energy planning, data systems, and grid efficiency. Jam Kamal highlighted that measures under the IMF program have temporarily increased taxes but assured gradual easing to improve the business climate, while foreign reserves and remittances remain stable.
Danish companies showed keen interest in Pakistan’s IT sector, with over 80,000 annual IT graduates and competitive operating costs, as well as the growing cosmetics and personal care industry, which is expanding in African markets. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to fostering trade, facilitating business to business engagement, and participating in upcoming trade exhibitions in Lahore and Karachi.
