Islamabad: The government of Pakistan has taken a significant step toward digital governance and financial inclusion by successfully executing 1.9 million digital payments under the Ramadan Relief Package 2025. This initiative marked the first-ever nationwide implementation of a digital wallet system for the transparent distribution of public funds.
During a high-level review meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the premier expressed strong satisfaction with the transparent and efficient implementation of the package. The administration ordered authorities to implement this operational approach for upcoming welfare and subsidy initiatives so citizens can monitor government operations better.
The welfare program distributed payments through digital wallets to 951,191 beneficiaries located throughout every province of the country including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir territories. The government continues to prioritize inclusive development as demonstrated by distribution of funds to 2,541 disabled persons and 823,653 female recipients from the total welfare benefit recipients.
