Pakistan Installs New E-Printers to Double Passport Processing Speed

KARACHI: Pakistan has taken a significant step toward streamlining passport issuance with the arrival of two advanced e-passport printers and six desktop printers from Germany. These high-tech machines are expected to enhance the efficiency of the passport printing process.

Upon their arrival in Karachi, Director-General Passports Mustafa Jamal Qazi inspected the newly delivered printers. A foreign technical team has also arrived to oversee their installation and provide technical guidance.

Highlighting the capabilities of these printers, DG Mustafa Jamal Qazi stated that they can print up to 1,000 passports per hour. Once fully operational, these printers will significantly improve the passport issuance system, ensuring quicker processing times and better service for citizens.

Over the past year, the introduction of 10 new advanced printers has already doubled the Passport Department’s printing capacity. The latest additions aim to further strengthen the system, addressing previous delays and enhancing overall efficiency.

According to officials from the Passport and Immigration Department, the department’s daily passport production capacity has now increased from 20,000 to an impressive 40,000, reducing wait times and easing the application process for travelers.
