Pakistan Promotes E-Gaming Through Digital Youth Hub at Commonwealth Talks
Pakistan has proposed closer cooperation on e-gaming and digital youth platforms with the Commonwealth as part of efforts to expand skills development and economic opportunities for young people.
The proposal was discussed during a meeting in London between Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Program Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan and Dr. Arjun Sudhu, Deputy Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Secretariat.
Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan highlighted the potential of e-gaming as an emerging sector for employment, innovation, and global engagement for youth. He said Pakistan aims to develop a structured ecosystem for competitive gaming, digital content creation, and related technology skills through its Digital Youth Hub.
The discussions come as Pakistan prepares to launch its first national e-sports policy and establish a dedicated federation for the gaming industry. The policy is intended to create a formal framework for players, developers, and other professionals in the esports ecosystem, which includes an estimated 60 million gaming enthusiasts across the country.
He also addressed linking the Commonwealth’s e-learning resources with Pakistan’s Digital Youth Hub to provide young people access to training in game development, digital design, animation, and online entrepreneurship.
Officials said the initiative would help Pakistani youth connect with international platforms, gain certifications, and participate in global digital markets while promoting responsible and regulated e-gaming.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue dialogue on expanding digital education, innovation, and e-gaming opportunities under Commonwealth and national youth frameworks.
