Pakistan Railways has recovered Rs860,740 in fines during a nationwide crackdown on passengers traveling without valid tickets in a day. Surprise inspections on major trains have targeted fare evasion, ensuring compliance and protecting railway revenue.

Ticketless travel has long been a challenge for Pakistan Railways, contributing to revenue losses. To combat this, the railway administration has intensified inspections and enforcement across key routes, following directives from senior leadership including the Federal Minister for Railways and the CEO of Pakistan Railways.

The crackdown was led by Deputy Chief Commercial Manager Passenger Nasir Nazir, with the Headquarters Ticketless Checking Squad conducting inspections across multiple trains.

345 passengers were fined for traveling without tickets, with fines totaling Rs860,740.

Key routes covered include:

  • Lahore–Sahiwal
  • Sahiwal–Khanewal
  • Lahore–Faisalabad
  • Faisalabad–Shorkot
  • Khanewal–Rohri

Trains inspected include Allama Iqbal Express, Tezgam, Khyber Mail, Awam Express, Pakistan Express, Shalimar Express, Millat Express, and Rehman Baba Express.

“The crackdown will continue to safeguard revenue and curb fare evasion,” said Nasir Nazir, emphasizing that the campaign follows directives from senior railway officials including Federal Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi.

Authorities stated that continued enforcement is part of Pakistan Railways’ broader strategy to improve passenger compliance and protect financial resources.
