Pakistan Railways Opens Luxury Saloons to Public

Pakistan Railways has announced that its luxury saloon coaches, previously designated for high-ranking government officials, will now be available for booking by the general public on key intercity routes.

The move follows a directive from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and is aimed at expanding travel options while utilizing existing resources more efficiently. The saloon coaches, which were earlier used by the Prime Minister, federal ministers, and senior railway officials, will now be accessible to regular passengers.

According to railway officials, five luxury coaches will be offered for booking. These saloons are equipped with facilities such as private sleeping arrangements, modern washrooms, and lounge seating.

The service will be operational on major routes, including:

• Karachi to Lahore
• Lahore to Karachi
• Islamabad to Lahore
• Lahore to Islamabad

Pakistan Railways has stated that the fare structure will be kept affordable, aiming to ensure wider public access. Officials also mentioned that the decision is part of broader efforts to modernize railway services and improve the passenger experience. It also aims to increase revenue through better asset management.

The announcement marks a change in the use of railway resources and is part of ongoing reforms within the department. Bookings for the luxury saloons are expected to open soon, subject to availability on the listed routes.
