Pakistan Railways Temporarily Reverts to Summer Schedule

Pakistan Railways has temporarily suspended its winter timetable and reinstated the summer schedule starting November 10, 2025, due to ongoing engineering restrictions and signal system issues that have caused frequent delays across major routes.

The winter schedule, initially effective from October 15, 2025, was replaced by the summer timetable (April 15 – October 14, 2025) for the first time in the railway’s history. Officials cited extended travel times, particularly on the Lahore-Karachi route, where some trains now take up to 24 hours due t track and signal maintenance.

A Pakistan Railways spokesperson stated,

“This is a temporary measure to ensure smoother operations. Regular winter schedules will resume once track and signaling improvements are completed.”

Passengers have been advised to confirm updated train timings before traveling to avoid inconvenience.

The decision reflects the railway’s efforts to maintain service reliability during maintenance periods while ensuring passenger safety and minimizing delays.
