Pakistan Railways will resume the Babu Passenger Train from August 20 after a six-year suspension, Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has announced.
The train will return to service following repeated demands from passengers and the government’s assessment of public transportation needs.
The Babu Passenger Train operates between Lahore and Lala Musa, serving several stations along the route.
The service will stop at Badami Bagh, Shahdara Bagh, Kala Shah Kaku, Muridke, Sadhoki, Kamoki, Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Gujrat and Lala Musa.
The Babu Passenger Train was suspended during the coronavirus pandemic and remained out of service for six years.
According to the announcement, authorities decided to restore the service after passengers repeatedly called for its resumption and officials reviewed public transportation requirements.
The restoration has been ordered by Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi. He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision is aimed at making Pakistan Railways more active and improving facilities for passengers.
Abbasi also announced plans to restore additional suspended train services during the current year.
The resumption of the Babu Passenger Train will provide passengers traveling between Lahore, Lala Musa and intermediate stations with another rail travel option from August 20.
The government is also expected to focus on improving passenger facilities and expanding railway services as part of efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s rail network.
