Pakistan Targets $2 Billion Fruit & Vegetable Exports After FoodAg Expo

Pakistan is aiming to boost its fruit and vegetable exports to $2 billion over the next three years, up from the current $700 million, the Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters and Merchants Association (PFVA) announced. The targets come as the country showcased its fresh produce and value added products at this year’s FoodAg exhibition, attracting buyers from 35 countries.

PFVA Outlines Export Ambitions
PFVA Patron in Chief Waheed Ahmed revealed the ambitious plan at a joint press conference with the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).

“This year, 25 Pakistani companies participated in FoodAg, generating significant interest from international buyers,” he said.

Notably, Pakistan secured export orders for the first time from the United Kingdom, Germany, and Oman.

Strengthening the Agriculture Value Chain

To support these goals, the Pakistan Horticulture Development Company will collaborate with TDAP to reinforce the agriculture value chain. The company includes representatives from all four provinces and Gilgit-Baltistan, ensuring nationwide participation in enhancing production and export quality.

Expo Highlights Business Potential

TDAP Secretary Sheharyar Taj stated that the FoodAg expo generated business deals valued at $730 million, showcasing Pakistan’s production capacity, compliance standards, and quality in the global horticulture market. The event also created new opportunities for international collaboration, reinforcing Pakistan’s role in the global food and agriculture supply chain.
