In a significant move aimed at making essential services more accessible, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced that calls to Toll-Free Numbers (TFNs), beginning with 0800, are now free for all mobile subscribers. Previously, only fixed-line users could call these numbers without charges, while mobile users had to pay standard call rates.
The decision comes after consultations with major stakeholders, including PTCL, NTC, and cellular mobile operators. PTA said the step is part of its ongoing efforts to safeguard consumer interests and ensure convenient access to services via Toll-Free Numbers.
According to a PTA official, this initiative will allow mobile subscribers to connect with service providers and government helplines without worrying about call charges.
Toll-Free Numbers are widely used for customer support, complaint registration, and service information. By removing the charges for mobile users, the regulator hopes to make it easier for citizens across the country to reach important services without barriers.
