The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has refuted claims about its involvement in an alleged admission scam after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) detained one of its officials. The council stated that the arrested employee had no role that could link him to any wrongdoing related to admissions.
In its statement, the council said that admissions to medical and dental colleges are handled by universities and not by the PM&DC. It clarified that the person apprehended by the FIA was a driver named Sadam Hussain who worked in the general pool and was part of the support staff with no access to operational sections or decision-making processes.
According to the PM&DC, the employee was neither posted in nor involved with admissions, registration or policy-related duties. His role was strictly limited to transportation tasks assigned by the department.
The council added that after receiving complaints about possible misconduct, it initiated an internal inquiry. Following this, the employee was suspended from service and his salary was stopped in accordance with departmental rules.
The PM&DC reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy regarding corruption, fraud and misuse of authority. It maintained that it acted promptly to ensure internal accountability while extending full cooperation to the FIA in its investigation.
The council also stressed that it has no part in the national admission process for medical and dental colleges, as this responsibility lies entirely with provincial admitting universities. It urged students and parents to avoid interacting with unauthorised individuals and to rely only on official PM&DC communication channels for authentic admission information.
