Electricity consumers across Pakistan, including those of K-Electric, may receive significant relief of around Rs. 63.94 billion in their power bills, following a quarterly adjustment request submitted to the regulator.
The proposal has been filed before the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) by power distribution companies for the first quarter of calendar year 2026.
According to the submitted request, the proposed reduction includes:
- Rs. 36.83 billion under capacity charges
- Rs. 11.24 billion under system usage charges and market operation fees
- Rs. 23.51 billion linked to incremental electricity units
If approved, the total relief would be passed directly on to consumers through electricity bills.
NEPRA is set to review the petition on May 19, after which it will decide whether the proposed relief will be implemented for consumers nationwide.
If approved, the adjustment could provide meaningful relief to households and businesses already facing high electricity costs. The move is part of the quarterly tariff adjustment mechanism that reflects changes in fuel costs, system charges, and generation expenses.
The final decision will determine whether the proposed savings are reflected in upcoming electricity bills across the country.
