The Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) has appointed Senior Vice Chairman Umair Nizam as acting chairman. The move follows a no-confidence vote against former Chairman Sajjad Mustafa Syed. According to P@SHA, eight of the 12 Central Executive Committee (CEC) members backed the motion. Three members voted against it, while one abstained, giving the motion the required two-thirds majority.
Sajjad Mustafa Syed will remain a member of the CEC for the rest of his term. P@SHA also wished him well in his future work and thanked him for his service to the association. Umair Nizam will serve as Acting Chairman until the CEC elects a new chairman. His appointment follows P@SHA rules and will remain in place during the transition.
The association said its ongoing work will continue without disruption. It also confirmed that the upcoming elections and the 22nd P@SHA ICT Awards will take place on their planned schedules.
P@SHA said the transition will not affect its daily or strategic operations. The association also reaffirmed its commitment to running its elections in a timely, free, fair, and transparent manner.
The development comes as P@SHA continues to represent Pakistan’s IT industry and its software and technology companies. The association said it will maintain business as usual during the leadership transition.
