Pashto commentary will be introduced for the first time in Pakistan Super League (PSL) history during the remaining matches of Peshawar Zalmi in the ongoing 11th edition.
The initiative follows a formal agreement between the franchise and a private digital platform, which will exclusively stream the remaining fixtures of Zalmi with dedicated Pashto commentary coverage.
The Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi are set to play at least two more matches in the ongoing eight-team tournament during the playoffs stage.
They will face three-time champions Islamabad United in the Qualifier match scheduled to take place at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Tuesday evening.
A victory in the Qualifier will, secure winners of the 2017 edition, a direct place in the final of the tournament, eliminating the need for any further playoff matches.
If Peshawar Zalmi lose the Qualifier, they will compete in the third playoff match against the winner of Eliminator One to secure a final berth.
Eliminator One will be contested between Multan Sultans and Hyderabad Kingsmen, with the winner progressing to face Zalmi in the subsequent playoff fixture.
The final of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League is scheduled to be held at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Karachi on Sunday this week.
The addition of Pashto commentary expands the league’s broadcast offerings, which already include a dedicated Urdu commentary feed introduced earlier during the ongoing season.
Pakistan Super League chief executive Salman Naseer previously confirmed plans to introduce multiple language commentary options to enhance accessibility and reach for diverse audience segments.
He stated during a joint press conference earlier this year that one broadcast channel would remain exclusively dedicated to Urdu commentary and related match coverage.
