The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has started physical inspections of power backup systems at telecom towers across the country to help ensure uninterrupted mobile services during power outages.
PTA teams from zonal offices in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Quetta, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Multan, Faisalabad and Muzaffarabad are visiting telecom towers in urban and rural areas. The teams are checking batteries, generators and solar power systems, with particular focus on areas affected by load shedding.
Local representatives and their nominees are accompanying the inspection teams to identify locations where mobile signals become weak or services are disrupted during power outages.
PTA Chairman Maj. Gen. Hafeez Ur Rehman (Retired), HI (M), SI, has directed the zonal offices to continue monitoring telecom towers regularly. The initiative is aimed at identifying power backup gaps and improving the continuity of mobile services during electricity outages.
