The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has briefed the heads of more than 165 universities on safe and responsible internet use as part of its efforts to raise awareness about online risks.
According to a PTA document, the authority has conducted awareness seminars and other activities with universities and institutions affiliated with the Higher Education Commission (HEC). The sessions focused on lawful internet use, cyber risks and potential threats faced by users online.
PTA has also launched awareness campaigns covering unsafe and illegal online content, cyber risks and available legal remedies. The authority has shared educational videos and other awareness material through YouTube and social media platforms.
In addition, PTA has published guides for parents and caregivers in collaboration with organizations including UNICEF and TikTok. The guides are designed to help parents understand online risks and support safer internet use among children.
The authority has also worked with mobile operators and television programs to spread awareness among students, parents and the wider public.
PTA said its continued engagement with universities and other stakeholders is aimed at improving awareness of online risks and promoting safer and more responsible use of digital platforms.
