The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) inspected 115 telecom sites across Pakistan between September 30 and October 7, 2026. The inspections aim to improve mobile network coverage, service quality, and availability across the country. PTA teams checked sites in several regions, including Lahore, Karachi, Sukkur, Multan, and Rawalpindi. Lahore recorded the highest number of inspections, with 39 sites checked during the week.
Karachi accounted for 17 inspections, followed by Sukkur with 16. Multan and Rawalpindi each recorded 14 inspections, while teams checked eight sites in Quetta, four in Abbottabad, and three in Gilgit.
During these visits, field teams assessed network performance, voice calls, mobile internet speeds, and coverage. They also checked backup power systems to ensure telecom sites could continue operating when needed. PTA reported improvements in mobile service quality in several inspected areas.
The monitoring drive focused on common consumer complaints, including failed calls, dropped calls, slow internet speeds, and weak network coverage. Teams also reviewed public feedback to identify service issues affecting mobile users.
Meanwhile, PTA teams are engaging with local administrations, elected representatives, and community members. This outreach aims to identify network problems and help resolve them more effectively.
When technical faults or other deficiencies are found at telecom sites, the relevant mobile operators are directed to take corrective action. These measures are intended to address service problems and improve network performance over time.
PTA said it would continue monitoring mobile operators and strengthening its regulatory oversight. The authority aims to resolve consumer complaints more quickly and improve the reliability and availability of mobile services across Pakistan.
