Punjab has officially become the first province in Pakistan to establish the Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Centre (PIFTAC). This centralized facility aims to strengthen intelligence coordination and improve overall law and order.
Today, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz visited the newly established center. During her visit, she received a comprehensive briefing on PIFTAC’s operational framework and the current security situation. Consequently, she approved several major security initiatives.
To tackle modern security challenges, the government approved the formation of an anti-drone unit. This marks the first time Punjab has introduced such a specialized force. Furthermore, authorities will immediately establish a dedicated cybercrime cell to combat digital threats.
Security forces will initiate continuous combing operations across the province. Additionally, officials will install state-of-the-art digital scanners at all provincial entry and exit points.
To further curb terrorism and criminal activities, the government is strengthening the existing whistleblower system. Meanwhile, a special monitoring dashboard has been introduced for deputy commissioners. This digital tool will ensure effective oversight and protect the lives and property of citizens across all districts.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also directed the creation of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) hub within PIFTAC. This dedicated hub will significantly enhance the province’s cybersecurity and intelligence capabilities.
Emphasizing proactive governance, she instructed authorities to adopt a pre-emptive strategy against terrorism. Instead of responding after incidents occur, law enforcement will now focus on preventing them entirely. Ultimately, she reiterated the government’s commitment to utilizing all available resources to make Punjab the safest province in the country.
