The provicial government of Punjab has started verifying the data of students applying for electric bikes under its e-bike scheme. Only students aged 16 to 18 are eligible.
The School Education Department has sent the records of all applicants to school heads across the province. Heads have been instructed to verify the data of ninth and tenth grade students immediately and return their reports to the department within 24 hours.
According to the department, electric motorcycles will be provided only to eligible and deserving students whose data has been verified.
The department said hundreds of thousands of students from schools across Punjab have already submitted applications for the scheme. Directives have been issued to complete the verification process as quickly as possible.
