Punjab Education Authority Declared Three-Day Closure for Schools

All public and private schools in Nankana Sahib will remain closed for three days next week as the city prepares to host the 556th birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

According to an official notification issued by the Chief Executive Officer of the District Education Authority (DEA), Nankana Sahib, on November 1, 2025, schools will observe holidays from November 4 to November 6. The order covers 24 government institutions and all private schools located within Nankana City.

Among the listed institutions are Guru Nanak Higher Secondary School, MC Girls High School, Girls High School (Fatima Jinnah), and several primary schools in Canada Colony, Purani Abadi, and Shaheed Kot.

Baba Guru Nanak University will also suspend classes from November 3 to November 6. The move aims to ease traffic, ensure security, and provide space for visiting pilgrims during the religious festivities.

The District Education Officer and monitoring teams have been instructed to enforce compliance with the directive across all educational institutions in the area.

Thousands of Sikh pilgrims from around the world, including over 2,100 from India, are expected to attend the celebrations. The Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi recently issued visas to Indian devotees traveling for the event.

Local authorities have finalized comprehensive security and logistical arrangements to manage the large number of visitors. The preparations include crowd control measures, transport facilitation, and coordination with law enforcement agencies to maintain public order throughout the celebrations.
