Punjab Education Minister Seeks Safety Plan for Pakistani Students in Iran

Published by

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has asked the federal government to take immediate steps to protect Pakistani students studying in Iran as the situation there remains uncertain. In a letter sent on March 1, he called for a clear safety plan and regular contact with students and their families.

He said many of these students are from Punjab and their families are worried because of the ongoing tension in the region. The minister stressed that federal ministries and Pakistan’s embassy in Iran should work together to ensure students remain safe.

The letter also asks authorities to keep updated records of Pakistani students in Iran, set up emergency communication, and prepare plans for relocation or evacuation if needed.

Reports suggest some students have already started returning to Pakistan through the Taftan border, with more expected in the coming days. In the past, the government has taken similar steps to help Pakistanis return safely during periods of regional instability.
