The Punjab government has expanded its electric bus initiative to Layyah as part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s Green Mobility vision, continuing efforts to promote sustainable and modern public transportation across the province.
Under the latest phase of the program, 10 electric buses have arrived in Layyah, with five additional buses expected to join the fleet in the coming weeks. The initiative aims to provide residents with safe, comfortable, affordable, and environmentally friendly public transport.
The expansion follows the recent announcement of an electric bus service in Narowal, where 11 electric buses are scheduled to operate on six routes with a fare of Rs. 20, making eco-friendly transportation more accessible to commuters.
The Punjab government has been gradually extending its electric bus network to districts across the province to improve urban mobility, reduce carbon emissions, and encourage the use of clean energy in public transportation.
Officials said the expansion reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing public transport infrastructure while offering reliable and sustainable commuting options for residents in both urban and developing districts.
