The Government of the Punjab has officially declared two upcoming public holidays for the province. According to a notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD), citizens in Punjab will observe holidays later this week. Also, the Pakistan Government previously announced that February 5 will remain a public holiday in observance of Kashmir Day.

This announcement comes directly from the Welfare Wing of the S&GAD in Lahore.

The notification explicitly states that the public holidays apply to the entire Province of Punjab. Specifically, the government has marked Friday, February 6th, and Saturday, February 7th, 2026, as non-working days.

Here is the breakdown of the announced schedule:

Date Day Status
05 February, 2026 Thursday Public Holiday (National)
06 February, 2026 Friday Public Holiday (Punjab)
07 February, 2026 Saturday Public Holiday (Punjab)

The official document, dated February 3, 2026, bears the reference number No.SOW-I(S&GAD)1-3/2008(P-IV). The Chief Secretary of the Government of the Punjab authorised this release.

Furthermore, the department has directed the Director General (Public Relations) to circulate this information widely. Consequently, the notification will appear in major English and Urdu dailies across national and regional levels. It will also receive coverage through electronic media to ensure the general public remains informed.

This development signals a relaxing weekend for residents of Punjab. Since February 5th is already a national holiday, these additional holidays create a continuous break. Therefore, the public can look forward to an extended long weekend starting Thursday.
