More than 4,000 Union Councils across Punjab will be equipped with Dastak Centres offering over 170 government services under one roof, under a plan reviewed by the Local Government Department and the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB).
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Local Government Secretary Zaid Bin Maqsood on Tuesday, attended by PITB representatives.
The meeting examined the proposed rollout of Dastak Centres across the province, covering the service delivery model, required buildings, IT infrastructure, public accessibility and other logistical needs.
PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf briefed participants on the proposed service delivery framework for the centres, which are designed to bring a wide range of government services closer to citizens at the Union Council level.
Field assessments of Union Councils have already been completed, covering the availability of suitable buildings, IT requirements, accessibility and other facilities needed for smooth operations.
The overall cost of establishing the Dastak Centres has been estimated at more than Rs4 billion.
The secretary directed that the initiative be extended to more than 4,000 Union Councils across Punjab to ensure broader access to government services at the grassroots level.
He also instructed that the range of services offered at each centre be tailored to the specific needs of the local population it serves.
