Punjab Police issued more than 3.962 million driving licences across the province this year, as part of a broader campaign to improve public service delivery and strengthen traffic law enforcement.
Authorities issued more than 4.356 million traffic challans for various violations during the same period, generating fines that exceeded Rs8,880 million across Punjab province.
Police issued challans to 42,535 smoke-emitting vehicles during the crackdown, while officers impounded 6,693 vehicles at police stations for committing serious traffic violations.
Authorities additionally confiscated fitness certificates of 28 vehicles found to be in violation of established traffic regulations, as enforcement operations continued across the province throughout the year.
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, directed all field formations to maintain uninterrupted operations against traffic law violators and ensure strict implementation of amended traffic laws.
The IGP ordered a sustained crackdown on dangerous practices including overloading, overspeeding, underage driving, one-way violations, and other offences posing serious risks to public road safety.
