The Punjab government has set the end of October 2026 as the deadline to complete development work aimed at providing missing facilities in government schools across Rawalpindi district. According to a senior official of the District Education Authority, most ongoing schemes are already close to completion.
The government allocated Rs. 938.9 million for the projects, of which Rs. 424.8 million has been released so far. The funds are being used for the construction of 89 classrooms at 54 schools, additional classrooms at 201 schools, drinking water facilities at 47 schools, solarization of 126 schools, and furniture for 242 schools.
The development package also includes Rs. 142.742 million for boundary walls at 164 schools and Rs. 47.75 million for toilets at 99 schools. Rawalpindi district has more than 1,178 government schools, 4,733 private schools, and 17 special education centers.
District Education Authority CEO Yaseen Khan Baloch said most development schemes were nearing completion and new projects would be initiated next year. He added that school enrollment has increased and missing-facility issues at most public schools have been addressed.
