Qualcomm has confirmed that its annual Snapdragon Summit will take place from September 22 to September 24 in Maui, Hawaii. The company has not shared its launch plans yet. However, the event is expected to introduce Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship mobile processors.
The biggest announcement will likely be the successor to last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. According to recent rumors, the new processor could launch as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 with the model number SM8950.
Reports also suggest Qualcomm may unveil another premium chip at the same event. It could introduce the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, which reportedly carries the model number SM8975.
In addition, a recent leak claims Qualcomm is developing two more 3nm mobile processors. These include the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5XX version (SM8850Q) and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Pro (SM8845 Pro).
Last year, Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 with model numbers SM8850 and SM8845, respectively. However, it remains unclear how the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5XX version will differ from the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. More information is expected to appear before the official announcement.
Meanwhile, rumors indicate that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Pro could arrive under a different name. It may launch as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 6, although Qualcomm has not confirmed this information.
More details about Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon lineup should become available as the Snapdragon Summit gets closer. Until then, the company has kept its plans under wraps.
