Railways Minister Announces Export of Coaches to Five Nations

Published by

Pakistan Railways is preparing to enter the international market by exporting locally manufactured coaches and wagons to five countries, marking a major step toward boosting railway exports and showcasing Pakistan’s industrial capabilities.

Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi announced on Wednesday that Pakistan Railways will export coaches and wagons to Chile, Argentina, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal. Speaking to Geo News, he said ambassadors from these countries will be invited to the Ministry of Railways this week, where detailed presentations on the export project will be shared.

“Pakistan Railways is now capable of producing high-quality coaches and wagons that can compete in the international market at competitive prices,” Abbasi said.

The announcement comes as Pakistan Railways reports a record revenue of Rs. 10 billion in December, driven by improved passenger services and better operational management. The minister also highlighted that freight operations have been strengthened through public-private partnerships, allowing efficient transportation of containers, coal, and phosphate across the country.

Officials believe the export initiative will not only generate foreign exchange but also enhance Pakistan Railways’ global reputation as a reliable manufacturer of railway rolling stock.
