Rajab Butt Gets Community Service For Keeping Lion Cub

Vlogger Rajab Ali Butt is facing community service as punishment after being convicted over illegal possession of a lion cub.

The sentence, announced by Magistrate Hamidul Rehman Nasir, requires the TikToker to promote animal rights via monthly vlogs.

According to the specifics, Butt must record a five-minute video about animal rights in the first week of every month from February 2025 to January 2026.

Butt was previously arrested over illegal possession of lion cub and weapon display. Reports indicated that Butt received the cub as a wedding gift.

He was set free after posting Rs50,000 in bail.

The special magistrate noted that Butt pleaded guilty to possessing the lion cub without a proper license, which is considered an offense under Section 21 of the Punjab Wildlife (Protection, Preservation, Conservation and Management) Act 1974.

Moreover, the court assigned Probation Officer Maheen Solat to oversee Rajab Butt’s community service while ordering the transfer of the lion cub to the Lahore Wildlife Safari Zoo as part of an interim arrangement.

It is worth mentioning that keeping wild animals without proper documentation mandates penalties of up to two years in prison, a fine between Rs10,000 and Rs15,000, or both.
