Rawalpindi Educational Institutions Partially Reopen
Educational institutions in Rawalpindi have begun reopening in a systematic phase after a four-day closure caused by protests from a religious group that disrupted routine activities across the twin cities. According to details, some schools have opted for early off time for students while others have resorted to online classes in light of the security situation.
All previously closed connecting roads in Islamabad and Lahore have now been reopened. Shops and business centers on Rawalpindi’s Murree Road have also resumed operations. However, the section from Murree Road to Faizabad and the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus Service remain suspended for now.
There are conflicting reports about major routes, including IGP Road, Double Road, and Expressway, being restored for traffic movement.
Mobile and data services that were suspended during the demonstrations have now been fully restored in both Rawalpindi and Islamabad, bringing communication services back to normal.
Earlier, schools in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad were affected by the ongoing protests and heightened security alerts. Authorities had not clarified whether educational institutions in Rawalpindi would resume classes on Monday, October 13, as rallies and sit-ins had paralyzed transport and communication links across the three cities.
Private school associations had also announced a holiday on Saturday in Lahore, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi, citing safety concerns amid the protests.
