Resident Evil Requiem Leak Reveals A Surprise Playable Character
A massive leak just hit the Resident Evil community. GameStop may have accidentally revealed a surprise playable character for the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem. While Capcom remains quiet, this new information challenges previous rumours and sparks intense debate among fans.
The GameStop Slip-Up
According to a spot by a Reddit user, an official listing for the Resident Evil Requiem Deluxe Edition briefly appeared on GameStop. The listing mentioned “Rosemary Winters” as a playable character alongside the already confirmed “Grace Ashcroft”.

Specifically, the description listed two bonus cosmetics for “Rose”. GameStop quickly removed all mentions of “Rose”, but the damage was done. This removal suggests two possibilities:
- A simple error
- A frantic move to hide a major spoiler
Currently, “Grace Ashcroft” is the only playable protagonist officially confirmed by Capcom. However, Producer Masato Kumazawa previously confirmed that the game will feature returning characters. “Rose” certainly fits that description.
Resident Evil Requiem: Timeline Confusion & Conflicting Leaks
This leak complicates the narrative. If “Rose” is playable, the game’s timeline becomes tricky. In the glimpses of Grace’s story shown so far, Rose would be only six or seven years old. Therefore, a playable Rose suggests the game might feature a significant time jump.
Furthermore, this information clashes with earlier reports. A previous leak from the PlayStation Store suggested fan-favourite “Leon Kennedy” would return as a playable character. Additionally, leakers previously claimed the game features three playable characters but did not mention Rose in that lineup.
These conflicting store listings have muddied the waters. Is it Rose, Leon, or both?
The Wait for Answers
Fans are left guessing for now. Conflicting reports make it difficult to sort fact from fiction. However, we will not have to wait long for clarification.
Resident Evil Requiem will make an appearance at The Game Awards on December 11. Capcom could finally confirm the full roster then. Until that reveal, fans should take these rumours with a grain of salt.
