Resident Evil Requiem Trailer Confirms the Return of ‘Leon Kennedy’
Capcom stole the show at The Game Awards 2025. After months of silence following the Summer Game Fest reveal, the studio officially dropped a massive new trailer for Resident Evil Requiem. The footage confirms what fans have suspected for months. Leon S. Kennedy is back.

Leon Returns to Raccoon City
Resident Evil Requiem brings the franchise full circle. The game returns to “Raccoon City” exactly 28 years after the original outbreak. While early announcements focused solely on Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of Outbreak’s Alyssa Ashcroft, the new TGA trailer confirms Leon as the second playable protagonist.
He faces a new threat in the shape of Victor Gideon. This hooded villain targets Grace, calling her the “special” and “chosen” one. Gideon looks dangerous, but Leon appears ready. Despite his age, Leon retains his combat skills. The trailer showcases signature kicks, flashy shooting, and even a moment where he turns a chainsaw against an enemy.
Two Styles, One Game
Requiem offers a unique blend of gameplay. Geoff Keighley, host of The Game Awards, explained that the game splits into two distinct segments. Leon’s sections provide high-octane action with serious Resident Evil 4 vibes.
In contrast, Grace’s segments deliver traditional survival-horror gameplay. Capcom’s latest update reveals that Grace is an FBI Analyst, adding a new layer to her character. Her journey intertwines with Leon’s for an emotional narrative.
Furthermore, players can toggle between first-person and third-person perspectives, catering to fans of both RE7 and the classic remakes.
Resident Evil Requiem Pre-Orders & Platforms
You won’t have to wait long. The game officially launches on February 27, 2026.
Pre-orders are available starting December 12. Capcom confirmed the title will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. PC players can pick it up via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Mark your calendars. Raccoon City awaits.
