Samsung Confirms Launch Date for Project Moohan XR Headset

Samsung’s long-anticipated entry into the mixed-reality space is finally official. The company has confirmed that its first Android XR headset, internally known as Project Moohan, will debut on October 21 during the upcoming Galaxy Event.

The headset was initially rumored to arrive on September 29, but that window passed without an announcement. Later leaks suggested two potential dates, October 21 or 22, and now Samsung has confirmed which one it will be using.

While the company has yet to confirm the official marketing name, multiple reports indicate it will launch as the Galaxy XR. This branding move fits neatly within Samsung’s existing Galaxy ecosystem.

Developed in collaboration with Qualcomm and Google, Project Moohan represents a unified effort to build a competitive Android-based mixed reality platform. It’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip and runs on Android XR, Google’s dedicated operating system for extended reality devices.
