Samsung appears ready to boost charging speeds across its upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup, according to new reports. While earlier rumors suggested the base S26 would stick to 25W, matching the S25, fresh leaks claim it may actually support 45W wired charging, the same as the S26+. This change could narrow the gap between Samsung’s entry-level and mid-tier flagships, though real-world improvements in charging times remain unclear.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to push the limits further, featuring 60W wired charging, keeping it ahead of the smaller models. All three phones are reportedly set to debut on February 25, with the S26 and S26+ using Samsung’s Exynos 2600 chipset. The Ultra, however, is rumored to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, continuing Samsung’s pattern of mixing chipsets depending on the model.
While these details are not confirmed and should be taken cautiously, the upgrade for the base Galaxy S26 seems overdue. Chinese competitors have been offering higher charging speeds for years, making Samsung’s 25W standard increasingly outdated. Raising the wired charging to 45W would bring the company in line with modern expectations and improve the appeal of its least expensive flagship.
