Samsung could soon join Google’s growing laptop platform with a new device powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite chip. The laptop has appeared in Geekbench 7.1.0 under the model number Samsung XE940XSA.
Google introduced Googlebooks as an Android-based laptop platform. Its official page currently lists devices from Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. Samsung has not officially announced a Googlebook yet.
The company already uses the Galaxy Chromebook name for its ChromeOS laptops. However, it is unclear what Samsung would call an Android-based model. A Galaxy Googlebook could be one possibility, although the name would certainly sound unusual.
Geekbench lists the Samsung laptop with the chipset code name “Hamoa.” Qualcomm uses Hamoa as the code name for its Snapdragon X Elite platform. Based on the reported clock speeds, the chip appears to be the Snapdragon X1E-80-100.
That would put Samsung alongside Dell and HP, which also use the Snapdragon X Elite in their Googlebooks. Acer, Asus, and Lenovo have instead opted for Intel Core Ultra 5 processors.
The Samsung model was tested with 16GB of RAM, matching the memory found in other Googlebooks. Geekbench does not reveal its storage capacity, though. Existing Googlebook models are listed with 512GB of storage.
The benchmark also shows Android 17 running on Samsung’s laptop. This confirms that the device is not a Chromebook. Samsung could also add One UI customizations to the standard Googlebook interface, but those changes have not appeared yet.
The Snapdragon X Elite is built on a 4nm process. It features 12 Oryon CPU cores and an Adreno X1-85 GPU. The X1E-80-100 variant is also found in Dell and HP Googlebook models.
Samsung has already used this chip in its Windows laptops. The 2024 Galaxy Book4 Edge featured the Snapdragon X Elite, with the 14-inch model using the X1E-80-100. The 16-inch version was also available with the X1E-84-100.
More recently, Samsung launched the Galaxy Book6 Edge with Qualcomm’s newer Snapdragon X2 Elite. That model uses the X2E-88-100 chip.
The appearance of the XE940XSA on Geekbench suggests Samsung could bring its Snapdragon hardware to Googlebooks. However, the company has not confirmed the laptop or shared any launch details yet.
